Josias, Hold the Book is the recipient of the 2007 Americas Award for Children's and Young Adult Literature. The award will be presented at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C., on October 6, 2007.

Josias, Hold the Book is also the recipient of the 2007 Growing Good Kids Excellence in Children's Literature Award.

The Bank Street College of Education has named Josias, Hold the Book to its Best Children's Books of the Year 2007 list.
